Family Photography Guide for Summer 2023

When photographing your family, my approach is simple, laid-back, candid, and timeless. I want you and your family to relax and enjoy the moment during our photoshoot.

Living in the beautiful San Francisco Bay Area, we have the advantage of many stunning landscapes and architecture as our backdrop. As a Bay Area family photographer, I will suggest locations that match your preferences and style, creating a personalized touch for your photographs.

Additionally, I'll suggest poses to capture your natural expressions and interactions. Together, we'll create vibrant and dynamic photos that truly reflect who you are.

I aim to capture timeless images that will hold meaning and evoke cherished memories for years. By focusing on genuine moments rather than fleeting trends, I can ensure your photographs stand the test of time.

With my simple, laid-back approach and attention to detail, I strive to provide you with an enjoyable experience throughout the entire process. My goal is to capture your unique personalities and emotions and ultimately deliver a collection of photographs that tell your story beautifully.

Outfit Guidance for Summer 2023

For Her

We want to think about the kinds of photos your outfits allow us to take. Go for a light, flowy dress that can catch the breeze and creates a beautiful silhouette. Choose colors that flatter your skin tone, and don't be afraid to layer them with simple jewelry to enhance the overall aesthetics. Opt for muted colors and soft pastels for a romantic and airy vibe. Alternatively, if you want to make a bold statement, consider a vibrant red or yellow dress that will create a striking contrast against the backdrop of the sky. Regarding footwear, consider the location and decide between heels, wedges, or sandals to ensure style and comfort. For Him

Just keep it simple. Button-down shirts and added layers will make any man look dapper for a photoshoot. To ensure a polished appearance, always iron or steam your shirt to remove any wrinkles! Pair this look with chinos, dark blue jeans, or slacks for a stylish and versatile look. Brown dress shoes complement most outfits unless the chosen attire is predominantly black. In which case, black dress shoes would be more suitable. Please click the image for more inspiration and online store.

For Kids

Dress your children in a similar approach to yourself. For babies, neutral-colored or muted-toned jumpsuits are always cute, and subtle patterns or textures can add dimension. Rompers, overalls, and dresses are adorable on toddlers. Go for a sweet-looking sweater during the colder months. Flowy dresses add movement for girls, while fitted dress pants, slacks, or shorts work well for boys. Don't forget cute details like suspenders or floral hair accessories!

Pro tip: Arrive early to the photo shoot and dress your kids on-site – this avoids any last-minute wardrobe malfunctions or potential stains. Consider bringing extra clothes, just in case!

What Not to Wear

Avoid going for overly matchy-matchy outfits and instead aim for a cohesive look with complementary colors and styles. Steer clear of noticeable logos, bold graphics, and loud prints, as they can be distracting in the photos. Opt for simpler patterns or solid colors for a timeless appeal. Additionally, skip casual footwear like sneakers and choose dressier options. Leave t-shirts and tank tops at home for a more polished and put-together look!
