Their love story began in 2015, united by their passion for tennis and travel and a deep appreciation for nature.
While on a trip with their friends to wine country, the couple stopped to admire Sutro Baths's beauty. Monica has a deep connection to Lands End and Sutro Baths, as it was once a place for hanging out and relaxing while in college. Knowing this, Phi decided to surprise Monica with a romantic proposal. And, of course, she said yes!
It only makes sense that they chose the beauty of Lands End and Filoli Garden as the location for their engagement photos - a perfect reminder of their endless love story.
Monica and Phi's Sutro Baths Photos
While being a stunning location, Sutro Baths history makes the spot even more special. We started the photo session early, which provided us with ample natural light and minimal people. With its stunning natural beauty and unique historical significance, this area can attract many tourists - so it's important to get there early to avoid the rush!
Once a popular saltwater swimming complex, the historic ruins of Sutro Baths are a sight to behold. Destroyed in a fire back in 1966, the ruins and Sutro Baths history have been left to stand as a reminder of days gone by.
But while the original vision of Sutro Baths has long since gone, the beauty of the area remains. We had so much fun hiking and exploring the area, and the champagne pop helped make these Sutro Baths photos even more special!
Filoli Engagement Photos: Beauty Amidst History
Our second stop of the day was Filoli Gardens. This hidden gem, nestled in the hills of Woodside, CA, is a unique venue with a great range of shoot locations. From the lush green lawns to the brilliant colors of the blooming flowers, this area provided some stunning Filoli photos.
Springtime is the best for Filoli Gardens engagement photos, as the area is simply blooming with color! The ambient lighting and the beautiful backdrop of nature allowed me to capture some truly magical Filoli engagement photos.

You need tickets to get into Filoli Gardens, but the fee is worth it!
After all, you get access to some of the most beautiful grounds in Northern California. There is also an additional photo permit fee, so keep that in mind when booking your Filoli engagement photos.
