Expecting a new child is a beautiful and exciting moment in life for all new and experienced parents. Scheduling a maternity photo shoot is a wonderful way to capture the moments of joy that expectant parents experience, especially in the last months full of anticipation. I was honored to capture this special milestone in Queenie and Sean's life as they await their bundle of joy. Our photoshoot was shot in the incredible Filoli Gardens in the Bay Area, just south of San Francisco.
The Magic of Filoli Gardens
Filoli Gardens sits on the gorgeous ancestral lands of the Ramaytush Ohlone and spreads out over 654 scenic acres along the slopes of California's coastal range. It was built in 1917 originally as a private residence and opened to the public as a nonprofit in 1977, so the public could enjoy the beautiful grounds. There is a stunning Georgian revival-style mansion, 16 acres of English Renaissance gardens, and a 6.8-acre Gentlemen's Orchard within hundreds of acres of natural land within the grounds.
The Filoli gardens often host weddings, and visitors not only get to explore the grounds they can enjoy the café and the shops. Filoli gardens were the perfect choice for Queenie and Sean's maternity photoshoot. With the variety of locations featuring incredible flora and incredible architecture, it was no contest.
Queenie and Sean’s Dream Maternity Photoshoot
Everything about this maternity photoshoot was a dream. The relaxing, beautiful ambiance of Filoli Gardens made me want to do this photoshoot over and over again. Queenie, the radiant expectant mother, and her husband Sean really made the entire experience a delight.
I met Queenie and Sean through her sister-in-law, Anna, on a Destination Babymoon photoshoot for Anna and Mark on the big island of Hawaii. We had such a fantastic time in Hawaii and cultivated a great client relationship. Anna showed me kindness and unmatched hospitality as she took me around some of the island's most iconic and beautiful spots. Her destination baby moon photography was such a joy to shoot, and she was kind to trust me to recommend me to Queenie so I could photograph this momentous moment in their life.
This maternity session with Queenie and Sean was a privilege to host and get back to what was equally beautiful. The Bay Area has some clearly beautiful locations, and I wanted to choose a location that was as romantic and relaxed. I channeled my inspiration from Kona and chose the nearby Filoli Gardens as the perfect place to capture this sweet couple.
Capturing Queenie and Mark in this serene location afforded us some incredible shots of them as we explored the gardens. They were such a delight to work with, and I wish them the best as they embark on their journey as parents.
